I absolutely love the CBS Sunday Morning Show. This past Sunday they featured a segment entitled, "Is Sitting the New Smoking?" and it really grabbed my attention. Much like outdoor living furniture encouraging us to enjoy the beauty of nature, take in the fresh air and not to mention the light benefits to our health; I saw the immediate potential value in this treadmill desk concept.
Less than a year ago I was sitting at a stop light and was rear-ended by a vehicle going at a high rate of speed and sustained a back injury. As a result of this accident I currently have recurring pain. Prior to the injury my lifestyle was rather sedentary for certain extended periods of time depending on the project at hand. This was not a problem prior to the accident or I didn't think it was a problem. Now it is definitely a problem and in hindsight these extended sedentary periods were probably growing other less obvious slow to emerge health issues as well. Is your lifestyle too sedentary? Ever tried a treadmill desk? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
The concept of combining the two functions of desk work and exercise and it actually potentially increasing productivity while saving time is very intriguing indeed. I am putting this on my wish list for sure. I hope companies as they are looking to create cutting edge environments that generate creativity and hack culture by affecting positive change consider this option for their employees.
This past Friday May 9th, 2014 I had the extreme pleasure of attending the 11th annual Starkey Entrepreneurial Woman Award Breakfast. This was my second year in attendance and most simply put, it is a wonderful experience. I truly enjoy gathering together with so many intelligent, talented, giving, thought-leading, motivated, positive #women that all have the same goal of supporting other women and making a positive difference.
A big Thank You to Marti Starkey, Founder and Sponsor of the Starkey Entrepreneurial Woman Award (“SEWA”) for the #positiveimpact along with Harrison & Moberly, LLP. Congratulations to this years award winner Deborah Wood, CEO DWA Healthcare Communications Group. Congratulations to all of the 2014 Nominees.
Keynote Speaker Justice Debra Lehrmann Supreme Court of Texas gave such a positively impacting speech. Loved her mention of the beloved and notable Madeleine Albright quote "There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women."
Thanks for bringing more awareness through this years featured topic of Human Trafficking;
Congratulations to the 2014 Spirit Award Recipients.
Lollipop by Artist Sandra K. Ziebold: a taste, a piece, a visual sneak peek from my sweet candy dreams art series--a collective work in progress
A bird narrowly missed colliding with my mini while I was driving this a.m. and I found myself pondering whimsically; reflecting yet again on the wonders of nature. When birds leave a nest of hungry babies do you think they have a guardian aviary contingency plan?!

Beauty of a Moss Covering
Excerpt from Reflections of Nature a visual and literary collective work

Beautiful carpets of moss are along the path that I have chosen today. Intensely green the feathery-plush covering is thick and obviously has correctly found a favorable reproducing location. The coloring is a vast contrast to the twigs and other plant life nearby. I embellish the idea that the rock under the blanket feels very snug. Spattered about...on both sides of the path the coloring of the moss dances in and out of view. Suddenly a rain shower descends upon us. It is as if we are being entertained with a drum solo. As the rain makes its way among the trees and plant life it impacts at different rates and strength. Flooding the path with a drip, plunk, thud the rain seems to have a rhythmic song all of its own. The dancing moss and drumming rain drops make my walk an invigorating experience. By the paths end I feel as though I have been wrapped in a quilt and have been serenaded by a magnificent drummer. The way that nature can touch our very core, and make us forget anything troubling for awhile, is a marvelous gift.
